Maze Procedure in Atrial Fibrillation : case report

Abstract

     At Sappasitthipsasong hospital there are many heart disease patients who suffer from atrial fibrillation and flutter. Surgery of heart disease with cryoablation MAZE operation is important, it can be operated in one time by cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon. This technique is useful for patients and hospital.
The objective is to report a case of Cyroablation MAZE operation, result of treatment and review of literature.
     A 51 year old Thai female was referred from another hospital presented with severe mitral valve regurgitation and atrial fibrillation by echocardiography. CVT surgeon was consulted for surgery was performed by mitral valve repair and cryoablation MAZE operation. The patient was admitted at ICU CVT for 2 days. Total length of stay was 10 days. She went home with sinus rhythm.
     Cryoablation MAZE operation is very useful procedure for treatment of atrial fibrillation and flutter.
