Abstract

Rationale: Nowadays, cesarean section is a very popular operation. It's rate is increasing. This study was about the operation performed at Sappasidtiprasong hospital.
Objective: Data included in this study comprised of rate, indication, patients' data, and outcome of cesarean section.
Setting Type: Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Sappasidtiprasong hospital. This study was a retrospective descriptive study.
Methodology: This study was started from October 1st 2006 till September 30th 2007 at Sappasidtiprasong hospital about cesarean section. The data was derived from labor registration books, referral forms (and patient's medical records, if necessary.)
Result: The cesarean section rate in 6,259 mothers who gave birth at Sappasidtiprasong hospital was 39.42%, Most of the indication was cephalo-pelvic disproportion (40.13%). The percentage of the infants whose Apgar score was more than 7 at 1st and 5th minute was 92.48% and 97.74 % respectively. Almost all of the patients were performed low transverse cesarean section.
Summary: The cesarean section rate at Sappasidtiprasong hospital was about 40%. The rate was gradually increased.
