Trauma Audit for Hospital Care Improvement at Surin Hospital

Abstract
Objective: To develop the trauma management system by using trauma audit system.
Design: Participatory Action Research
Setting: Surin hospital
Method: Setting up “Trauma audit for hospital care improvement project” during 1 January 2001 to 31 March 2002. The mechanisms of monitoring and auditing of the quality of trauma care would become an integrated part of the hospital management particularly for traumatic patients.
Result: The outcome and pitfalls of trauma management had been analyzed for 12 months periods before and after implementation of the project. 352 pitfalls were detected and decreased more than 50% by the end of the project.
Conclusion: Improvement of traumatic management system in Surin hospital are the integration of using trauma registration and grading the severity of the injury by TRISS methodology, processing of the audit system could reduce the pitfalls of traumatic care system.
