Evaluation on Emergency Medical Service System : Lamplaimat District : Buriram Pro

Abstract

Background: The good pre - hospital care is important to decreased morbidity, mortality rate and problems from treatment. In area that emergency medical service system is inappropriate in quality and quantity, the first responder is important in pre - hospital care
Objective: To evaluate knowledge, behaviors in pre - hospital care of first responder and study problems and solving in emergency medical service system
Reserch design: Prospective Descriptive study
Subjects: Police. Volunteer Security Services. Rescue Services. Fire - fighterman, Health care providers in health Center, Health Volunteers
Method: Subjects were selected to study by simple random sampling. The sample size to study is 225. The analysis by frequency, percentage and description
Results: The knowledge in pre - hospital care increased by the mean score of Pre - test (76.11 %), post - test (92.35 %) The behaviours in pre - hospital care have medium to good level of confidence, and very good level of enthusiasm. The first aids care have stop bleeding (51.6 %), immobilization (44.72 %) repiratory care (42.2 %), assist ventilation (4.4 %), cardiac massage (3.89 %) The opinions of Nurse to pre - hospital care of first responder in 2003 have improved first aids (24.5 %), suitable transportation (19.6 %), and improved communication (12.7 %) from 2002 The most problem in pre -hospital care of first responder were Equibment (37.9 %) Transpontation (33.9 %)
Conclusion: In limitation of budget and health providers, the first responder is very important to develop emergency medical service system. It is reccomented that the training programe should be revised and good coordination should be organized
