Knowledges, Attitudes and Behaviours in Prevention of Pesticide Usage Effect Among Health Volunteer, Surin Province

Abstract
Objective: To study knowledges, attitudes and behaviours in preventive effect from pesticide usage of health in Surin Province.
Design: Survey research
Subjects: Health Volunteers in Surin Province.
Method: Health volunteers were selected to study by multistage random sampling and simple random sampling. The sample size of health volunteer to study is 321. Data collection was conducted between January 5-25, 2000. The statistics that use to describe general characteristic is percentage. Analysis of Variance and Multiple Classification analysis were use to Analyze factors affecting knowledges, attitudes and behaviours.
Resulths: The study reveals that 71.4 percentage of health volunteers have good knowledges. Half of health volunteers have good attitudes, 28.2 percentage of health volunteers have very good attitudes. The study of behaviour shows that 69.2 percentage of health volunteers have good behaviour in advising people how to use pesticide safety and half of volunteers have good behaviours in self protection when use pesticide.
Analysis of Variance was use to study factors affecting knowledge attitude and behaviour. The result reveals that factors affecting knowledges are pesticide information perception; training experience; age and period of being health volunteer.
The factors affecting attitudes are pesticide information perception; age and period of being health volunteer. The factors affecting behaviour in advising people how to use pesticide safety are sex status; knowledge; training experience; being village committee. The factors affecting behaviour in self protection when use pesticides is sex only.
