Stercoral sigmoid perforation after received carboplatin paclitaxel combination in advance stage non- small cell lung cancer: A case report

Abstract
Combinations regimen of carboplatin with paclitaxel is one of mainstay regimen of palliative chemotherapy in patient diagnosed advance non-small cell lung cancer without driven mutation. Response to chemotherapy archive increasing of survival time and improve quality of life. This case report presents a female patient with newly diagnosed of advance non-small cell lung cancer recently received palliative chemotherapy carboplatin paclitaxel combination without significant adverse effect, 5 days after chemotherapy, she suffered from acute abdominal pain. Computer tomography scan was performed and found pneumoperitoneum without significant perforation site or peritoneal metastasis compared with previous scan. She underwent emergency exploratory laparotomy and found sigmoid colon perforation with fecal impact to perforated site. Sigmoidectomy with end colostomy was performed. Pathologic examination only found acute ulcer perforation without peritoneal metastasis. From case review, multiple preceding factors other than chemotherapy alone led to this complication.
