Effects of a preparation program for infusion nurses on satisfaction, knowledge, practice, and knowledge dissemination in infusion therapy at Ratchaburi Hospital

Abstract
Objective: To examine the effects of a preparation program for infusion nurses on satisfaction, knowledge, nursing practice, and knowledge dissemination at Ratchaburi Hospital.
Material and Methods: This study was a one-group pretest–posttest design. The sample consisted of 33 registered nurses. Research instruments included a readiness preparation training program, a satisfaction questionnaire, a knowledge test on infusion therapy, a nursing practice evaluation, and a record form for knowledge dissemination within units 120 days after program completion. All instruments were examined for content validity by five experts in intravenous fluid administration. The readiness preparation training program had perfect content validity (IOC = 1). The satisfaction questionnaire showed a high level of content validity (IOC = 0.92). The knowledge test on infusion therapy had IOC values ranging from 0.60 to 1.00, and the nursing practice evaluation had IOC values ranging from 0.80 to 1.00. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and a paired t-test.
Results: The findings revealed that: 1) Overall satisfaction with the program was at the highest level(mean = 4.77, SD = 0.08). 2) Posttest scores for knowledge were significantly higher than pretest scores at the 0.05 level. 3) Posttest scores for nursing practice, based on both self-evaluation and head nurse evaluation, were significantly higher than pretest scores at the 0.05 level. 4) All participants (100%) disseminated the acquired knowledge within their units within 120 days.
Conclusion: The readiness preparation program effectively enhances knowledge, nursing practice, and knowledge dissemination among infusion nurses.
