Finger Replantation Experience During 2005-2015: A retrospective review of 30 Cases
Main Article Content
Abstract
Background: Even though the advance in finger replantation technique enhances the effectiveness of the replantation, there was different success replantation rate reported among the studies. Moreover, there was no report of finger replantation outcome from secondary or tertiary care setting in which limited by human resource and equipment
Objective: To study success rate and factors affected the success of finger replantation
Setting: Buriram hospital, Buriram province
Study design: Retrospective study
Methods: A retrospective review of patient medical record undergoing finger replantation during January 1st 2005 to March 31st 2015 was conducted. Patient demographic data, characteristic of injury, surgical complications, replantation success rate and follow-up outcome were retrieved and analyzed. Descriptive statistic was presented as percentage, mean and standard deviation.
Results: There were 30 cases of finger replantation and 42 fingers were reattached. Success rate of finger replantation was 54.8% (23 fingers) and there was no significant relevant factor affected finger replantation success including finger injury, incomplete medical indication and other surgical technique applied for venous repair (p value > 0.05).
Conclusion: Buriram hospital had success rate of finger replantation of 54.8% and significant factor affected the replantation success was not found.
