Effects of the Development Competency Research for Registered Nurses

Abstract

Background: Nursing research is very important in order to generate new knowledge and can be used as intervention to improve the quality of nursing practice. Registered nurse must be developed nurse research competency in order to improve knowledge on research process. Nurse can develop productivity in nursing research. The results of research can be implemented of nursing practice.
Objective: To examine the effects of a training course for develop routine work to research (R to R) on registered nurses’ knowledge and Competency Research.
Study design: Quasi-experimental research one group pretest-posttest
Method: The subjects consisted of 51 registered nurses who were trained in the research project for develop routine work to research, Sisaket Hospital during July 2010 to June 2022.The research instruments composed of : 1)Demographic Data Form 2) The registered nurse’s Knowledge of Research Scale 3) The registered nurse’s Competency Research making Scale. 4) A handbook guide to answer the Professional nurse’s Competency Research making Scale. The process of this study was 1. Planning and preparation 2. Applied to practice (action) and 3. Review and evaluation. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Paired t-test.
Results: The research results revealed that: l).the knowledge score of registered nurses after receiving the training course were statistically significant higher than before the training course at the level of .001. and 2) the competency research making score of registered nurses after receiving the training course were statistically significant higher than before the training course at the level of .001. There were 37 research papers in this project.
Conclusions: The training course in develop routine work to research (R to R) for registered nursehelps nurse to gain knowledge as well as understanding about research process and enhance competency research making so it should be used as a teaching learning method personel organization.
