Abstract

Objective: To study outcome and complication of laryngeal injury in Buriram hospital
Study design: Retrospective study of case series Patients and method : Six cases of laryngeal injury were studied in Buriram hospital from 1st January 2005 to 30th May 2008
Results: Six cases of laryngeal injury were categorized as three cases of blunt injury and three cases of penetrating injury. Two cases were managed with conservative treatment and four cases were underwent surgical treatment. Five cases had good outcomes considered by airway, voice and swallowing. Two cases had infected wound and one case was death from brain stem injury.
Conclusion: Laryngeal injury is an important condition which potentially complicated by life threatening airway obstruction or impaired vocal function. Accurate diagnosis and proper management are essential for the successful outcome.
