Breast Disease of Patient Attending the Radiological Diagnostic Unit at Sisaket Hospital

Abstract
Objective: To study the finding by mammography of patient attending the radiological diagnostic unit at Sisaket Hospital
Research Design: Descriptive, retrospective study
Patients: Patients who were examined by mammograhic studies at Sisaket Hospital from October 2005 to September 2006
Method: Data were analyzed from mammographic studies and OPD cards
Results: Mammograhic BI-RADS category of patients attending the radiological diagnostic unit of Sisaket Hospital from October 2005 to September 2006 were analyzed. Associations between ages and BI-RADS categories were explored. There were 136 patients with age range 21-78 years. Group 1 (< 30 years) accounted for 5.2%, Group 2 (30-40 years) 22.1%, Group 3 (41-50 years) 50.7% and Group 4 (> 50 years) 22.1%. All mammographic BI-RADS categories were reviewed. BI-RADS 4 category was found 22.3% in age Group 4 (> 50 years), 10.2% and 3.3% in Group 3 and Group 2.
Conclusion: Mass screening mammography is considered up to age incidence and
cost - effectiveness but for the voluntary screening mammography, it could be done starting earlier than 40 years or around 35 years of age in Thai women.
