Abstract

Background: Tuberculosis is a prevalent infectious disease. Nasopharynx involvement is a rare finding.
Objective: To describe the clinical manifestation, radiographic finding, and diagnosis of nasopharyngeal tuberculosis following nasopharyngeal cancer treatment.
Methods: This case study was conducted retrospectively by reviewing the patient's medical record: history, clinical symptoms, radiological investigation, histopathological biopsy, and treatment result.
Results: A 38-year-old man presented with tinnitus after complete treatment of nasopharyngeal cancer for 9 months. Contrast CT showed soft tissue mass at the nasopharynx. No cervical lymphadenopathy was noticed. No pulmonary lesion was identified. Histopathological examinations diagnosed tuberculosis. His symptoms improved after 6 months of anti-tuberculosis treatment.
Conclusion: Tuberculosis should be considered in the differential diagnosis, and biopsy must be performed in all patients with nasopharyngeal abnormalities.
