The Effects of the Social Support Program on the Well-being of Relatives Caring for Caregivers of End-Stage Cancer Patients

Abstract
Background: Cancer is a major public health problem. End stage cancer patients commonly suffer from their terrible illnesses which lead to the worst control of mind, body and social relationship due to the complicated problems of the diseases. Therefore, the focus and concern on a spiritual happiness of patients at the final stage is one of important factors in order to face the worsen illness with control mind, calm and consciousness towards peacefully death.
Objective: The objective of this study was to study the results of the program of the social support program on the well-being of relatives caring for Caregivers of End-Stage Cancer Patients
Method: This study was a quasi-experimental research study type. The 2-group measurement before and after the experimental population and the samples were relatives caring for terminally ill cancer patients, Mahavajiralongkorn Thunyaburi Hospital, Pathum Thani Province, 30 people.
Results: Findings revealed that the mean score of well-being before the experiment of the control group was significantly different from after the experiment in addition, after receiving Swanson’s caring, the mean score of well-being of the experimental group was significantly higher than of the control group
Conclusions: Nurses should implement this Swanson’s caring for taking care of End-stage cancer patients. To be used as a program relatives of caregivers of late stage cancer Gain confidence Feelings of worth in oneself
