Outcomes of Down Syndrome screening with Quadruple test at Prasat Hospital

Abstract

This study aimed to screen Down’s syndrome among pregnant women in Prasat hospital, Surin province using descriptive research and quadruple test. The study conducted the data from pregnant women with Down’s syndrome screening test performed via medical records between May 19, 2022 and September 28, 2023. A total of 1,037 pregnant women were included in the final analysis. The results of quadruple test showed that 111 cases were at high risk of Down’s syndrome and 926 cases were at low risk of Down’s syndrome. Furthermore, the effectiveness of the quadruple test in pregnant women of all age groups had a prevalence was 0.29% (95%CI 0.06-0.84), sensitivity was 100% (95%CI 39.76-100), specificity was 89.56 percent (95%CI 87.53-91.35), positive predictive value was 2.7 percent (95%CI 2.27-3.21), negative predictive value was 100 percent (95%CI 99.60-100), accuracy of 89.59 percent (95%CI 87.56-91.38), false positive rate of 10.44 percent. Odds of being affected given a positive results was 37. The results can support that the screening Down’s syndrome using quadruple test method is highly effective and the price of the test is not high, and it is still a suitable choice for Down’s syndrome screening in the current conditions.
